What if something as simple as a squiggle… could get you out of your own way?
In this episode of Being in My Goodness, I'm sharing a playful micro-practice called Doodle Birding.
When you're in your head before starting something… like second-guessing, overthinking, quietly convinced it won't work, this practice gives you a way back to yourself that doesn't take long and doesn't require anything serious.
A doodle bird starts as a random squiggle on a page. What it becomes is entirely up to the moment. And that's the whole point.
I've been making doodle birds for about four or five years. Over time I noticed that whatever I worked on after making one took less time. Because I was second-guessing myself less. I tracked it for a full year, and by October 2023, one of my most intensive quarterly projects was taking about 55% of the time it used to. Almost cut in half. Small shifts add up.
